Clean your house

You scrub your bathroom every Saturday, keep your countertops disinfected and never let a week go by without changing your sheets. But if your motto is “cleanliness is next to godliness,” you may want to reconsider. While keeping the house clean is always a good idea, too much cleanliness can backfire, say researchers. In fact, a recent study conducted by University of Michigan researchers found that those who often used heavy cleaning products were more likely to experience a suppressed immune system and allergy problems compared to those who took a more relaxed approach to housework, without the harsh chemicals.
Bottom line: A clean house is great, but spic-and-span doesn’t have to mean sterile. For your health’s sake, lay off the harsh chemicals and avoid antibacterial products whenever possible. Elbow grease works just as well! Photo: Thinkstock
